WORLDWIDE CANDLE LIGHTING DAY
Today’s holiday is not a happy one. It is an event to remember all of the children that are no longer with us.
I know this blog is supposed to show that there is happiness to celebrate everyday, but sometimes these holidays are more about remembrance. The Compassionate Friends group organizes the candle lighting in communities all around the world. I went on the website and found that the city of Plymouth was hosting a gathering in Kellogg Park for today’s holiday. We went down there a little after 7pm when they began lighting the candles. They had people reading the names of all the children within Plymouth and the surrounding area who were taken before their time. The names all were also displayed on a screen for all to view. I took a few pictures:
We didn’t stay too long, it was a very somber event (as well as extremely cold for Roman). My heart goes out to all those that have lost a child, I cannot imagine that pain. I am happy to see that they hold this event annually and everyone can use that moment to allow themselves to remember those they have lost. Light a candle tonight in memory of all the lost children.
Total Cost to Celebrate: $0
